Free Ration to be Distributed on This Date

The dates for free ration distribution in September have been revealed. Distribution is set to begin on Thursday, September 10, and people can collect their free rations until September 25. The distribution process will take place in two shifts: the first shift will run from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, and the second shift will operate from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Rising sugar prices during the festive season had caused significant concern among the public. However, under the free ration distribution scheme in Uttar Pradesh, people will now receive sugar as well. During this distribution drive, Antyodaya cardholders will receive 35 kg of ration—comprising 14 kg of wheat and 21 kg of rice. Additionally, they will receive 3 kg of sugar at a rate of ₹18 per kilogram.

Who Receives Free Ration?

It is worth noting that the government provides free rations to individuals holding an Antyodaya Anna Yojana ration card. Antyodaya cardholders are considered to belong to the poorest families in society and receive 35 kg of ration free of cost every month.

How to Get an Antyodaya Card Made

If you reside in Uttar Pradesh and have not yet obtained an Antyodaya card, it is not too late to do so. In fact, you can still get the card made. Here is how:

First, you need to determine whether your family is eligible for the Antyodaya Yojana.
If you are eligible, gather the necessary documents, such as:
Aadhaar card of the head of the family
Aadhaar cards of family members
Proof of residence
Bank account details
Mobile number

A family photograph or other identity-related documents

After this, you can apply for a new ration card by visiting the relevant state’s food portal (accessible via the Central Government’s NFSA portal).
Once the application is submitted, the concerned department may verify your family’s details and eligibility.

You can check the status of your application on the respective portal.

Please note that merely applying for a ration card does not guarantee the issuance of an Antyodaya card. Inclusion in the Antyodaya category is decided based on eligibility and government verification. Currently, approximately 40.81 lakh ration cards under the Antyodaya category are registered in Uttar Pradesh.
