The Delhi Government is set to launch multiple women-centric welfare initiatives on March 2, marking the completion of one year of its current tenure. The upcoming rollout is expected to focus on financial assistance, free travel, pending benefit payments, and faster grievance redressal, with women at the center of policy action.

According to officials, the event is likely to be attended by Droupadi Murmu, adding national significance to the occasion.

Free LPG Cylinder for Women on Holi and Diwali

One of the biggest announcements expected at the event is a free LPG gas cylinder scheme for women from economically weaker families. As per media reports, the Delhi Government plans to provide one free LPG cylinder each on Holi and Diwali every year.

Instead of physical distribution, the cost of the cylinder will be transferred directly to beneficiaries’ Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Selected women beneficiaries have reportedly been invited to the March 2 event for the official launch of the scheme.

Pending Ladli Scheme Payments to Be Cleared

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that after assuming office, the government discovered a large backlog under the Ladli Scheme, with around 1.86 lakh matured accounts pending payment.

Over the past year:

  • Around 30,000 beneficiaries have received payments worth ₹90 crore

  • An additional 41,000 women have now been identified

  • Nearly ₹100 crore is expected to be released in the next phase

Some of these beneficiaries may also be present during the rollout ceremony.

Ladli Scheme to Be Rebranded as ‘Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana’

The Ladli Scheme is expected to be relaunched in a new format under the name Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana. The revamped scheme aims to strengthen long-term financial security for girls and young women and may be formally introduced during the March 2 event.

₹2,500 Support Under Mahila Samridhi Yojana

The Delhi Government is also preparing to roll out the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, under which women from poor families will receive ₹2,500 as financial assistance. A new online registration portal may be launched to simplify the application process and improve accessibility for eligible women.

‘Saheli’ Smart Card for Free Bus Travel

Another key initiative is the launch of the ‘Saheli’ Smart Card, a pink-colored card designed for women and transgender persons. The card will allow free travel on Delhi government buses, aiming to improve mobility, safety, and independence for daily commuters.

CM Public Grievance Portal and App

Separately, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced the launch of the CM Public Grievance Portal and mobile app, scheduled for February 21. This unified platform will allow citizens to register complaints related to:

  • Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD)

  • Delhi Development Authority (DDA)

  • Delhi Police

  • All Delhi Government departments

An auto-appeal mechanism will be built into the system to ensure accountability and time-bound resolution of complaints.

A Major Push for Women-Focused Governance

With free LPG support, financial assistance schemes, free transport, and improved grievance redressal, the Delhi Government’s March 2 rollout signals a major push toward women-focused governance and welfare delivery. If implemented effectively, these initiatives could significantly reduce financial stress and improve access to essential services for women across the capital.
