Following a major government decision, new petrol and diesel rates have been released today, Saturday, May 16—check them quickly here..
Petrol-Diesel Latest Rates – May 16: Following an increase of approximately ₹3 each in petrol and diesel prices across the country, the government has taken another major decision. The Centre has imposed a tax of ₹3 on petrol exports to regulate the petrol sold from India to other nations—specifically to ensure that the maximum possible quantity of petrol remains within the country. However, the export duty on diesel and jet fuel (ATF) has been reduced. According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance, the tax on diesel has been lowered from ₹23 to ₹16.5, while the tax on ATF has been cut from ₹33 to ₹16. To ensure that domestic consumption within the country remains unaffected, no hike has been made to the import duty on petrol and diesel. Oil marketing companies such as Indian Oil, HP, and Bharat Petroleum (IOCL, BPCL, HPCL) have released the latest rates for today—Saturday, May 16. Check here to see whether petrol and diesel have become cheaper or more expensive in your city today.
