The Central Government has launched an Employment-Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme for first-time job seekers. Under this scheme, individuals registering with the EPFO for the first time will receive an incentive of up to ₹15,000 directly into their bank accounts. This amount is disbursed in two installments within a 12-month service period. The Government of India is continuously introducing new schemes to connect youth with employment and strengthen the start of their careers. A special initiative for first-time employees has been launched under the 'Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana'.

What is the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana?
The objective of the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana is to connect youth with jobs in the formal sector. The government aims to encourage more young people to work in companies registered with the EPFO so that they can avail themselves of benefits such as PF (Provident Fund), pensions, and social security in the future. This scheme is specifically designed for youth who are starting their first job in the private or organized sector.

Benefits for first-time job seekers
Under this initiative, benefits will be provided to employees who join an organization for their first job between August 1, 2025, and July 31, 2027. The scheme is intended for individuals who have never previously been members of the EPFO (Employees' Provident Fund Organisation); essentially, it is designed with entirely new employees in mind.

How will the money be received?
Under this scheme, youth will receive financial assistance totaling up to ₹15,000. This amount will be disbursed in two installments directly into their bank accounts via DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). The first installment will be released after joining the job and completing a specified period, while the second installment will be released upon continuing the employment for a further duration.

Key features of the scheme
Eligibility: Employees registering with the EPFO for the first time, including those with a monthly salary of up to ₹1 lakh.
Amount: A maximum one-time assistance of ₹15,000.
Payment Process: The amount will be paid in two installments—the first upon completing six months of continuous employment and the second within 12 months.
