Festive Bonanza: GST Slash Makes ACs and Dishwashers Cheaper, Check How Much You Can Save

The festive season has begun with a wave of good news for Indian households. Starting this week, high-end home appliances such as air conditioners and dishwashers are set to become significantly more affordable. Thanks to the recent decision by the GST Council, the tax rate on these appliances has been slashed from 28% to 18%, giving consumers a direct price benefit.

As Navratri kicks off the festival period, leading brands including Voltas, Daikin, LG, Panasonic, Haier, and Godrej Appliances have already rolled out new price lists, passing the savings on to customers. The revised rates promise to make premium cooling and cleaning solutions more accessible, while companies are expecting a strong surge in demand.

Up to ₹4,500 Off on Air Conditioners

The most visible impact of the GST reduction can be seen in the air conditioner segment. Prices have dropped by up to ₹4,500, depending on the model and capacity. For example:

  • Daikin’s best-selling 1.5-ton 5-star inverter split AC, earlier priced at ₹73,800, is now available at ₹68,020.

  • LG’s entry-level 1-ton inverter split AC has been reduced to ₹32,890.

  • Voltas inverter window AC, which used to cost ₹46,990, is now listed at ₹43,290.

  • Haier’s Gravity 1.6-ton inverter AC has seen a markdown of about ₹4,000, bringing the new price to ₹46,085.

  • In the commercial AC category, Godrej Appliances has announced the steepest cut, slashing between ₹8,550 and ₹12,450.

These reductions are expected to boost AC sales dramatically, especially as festive offers and exchange schemes further sweeten the deal.

Dishwashers Also Turn Budget-Friendly

It’s not just cooling solutions that have benefited from the GST cut. Dishwashers—once seen as an urban luxury—are now becoming more budget-friendly for middle-class households.

  • BSH Home Appliances, which owns the Bosch and Siemens brands, has trimmed prices across its lineup. Entry-level models now start at ₹45,000, while high-end dishwashers have seen an ₹8,000 cut, bringing them down to ₹96,500.

  • Voltas Beko’s entry-level dishwasher has dropped from ₹25,990 to ₹23,390, making it one of the most affordable options in the market.

Industry insiders believe that these reductions could push dishwasher adoption higher, especially in urban households where time-saving appliances are increasingly in demand.

Retailers See Early Demand Surge

Several brands had already started pre-bookings at reduced prices before the official rollout, and the response has been highly encouraging. Retailers and dealers are reporting strong interest from buyers looking to upgrade appliances ahead of Diwali.

According to market watchers, the timing couldn’t be better. With festive sentiment running high, the price cuts are expected to drive double-digit growth in appliance sales this quarter. For manufacturers, the reduced GST has opened a window to tap into a broader customer base, while for consumers, it’s an opportunity to save big on big-ticket purchases.

What It Means for Consumers

For a middle-class household, the savings are substantial. On an air conditioner worth ₹70,000, the GST cut alone translates into nearly ₹7,000 of direct benefit. When combined with festive discounts, exchange offers, and no-cost EMI schemes, the effective savings can be even higher.

Experts suggest that this could be the perfect time to invest in appliances that not only enhance comfort but also bring long-term utility. As the festive season progresses, competition among brands is likely to intensify, offering even better deals to customers.

Key Takeaway: With GST rates on ACs and dishwashers reduced to 18%, buyers can save up to ₹12,000 depending on the model. Major brands have already slashed prices, and retailers are gearing up for a record-breaking festive sales season.
