Fertilizer Subsidy: ₹38,000 crore subsidy approved on fertilizers, the Modi government gives gift to farmers
Fertilizer Subsidy: The Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved a subsidy of ₹37,952 crore on phosphorus and potash (P&K) fertilizers for the current 2025-26 Rabi season. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav announced this in a press conference after the Cabinet meeting.
Fertilizer Subsidy: The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved subsidy rates of ₹43.02 per kg for nitrogen (N), ₹47.96 per kg for phosphorus (P), ₹2.38 per kg for potash (K), and ₹2.87 per kg for sulfur (S) for the current Rabi season.
Fertilizer subsidy rates will be implemented from October 1st.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav stated, "The approved subsidy for the 2025 Rabi season is approximately ₹14,000 crore more than last year." He explained that the subsidy rate under the Nutrient-Based Subsidy (NBS) scheme is determined by considering import prices and other factors such as nutrient requirements, subsidy burden, and MRP. The subsidy rates will be implemented from October 1st. Rabi (winter) sowing has begun in many parts of the country. Wheat, mustard, and gram are the main crops grown this season.
