From August 15, 2025, frequent highway travelers in India will no longer have to worry about topping up their FASTag every few days. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to roll out the much-awaited FASTag Annual Pass, a convenient option designed to make toll payments simpler, faster, and more cost-effective for personal vehicle owners.

What is the FASTag Annual Pass?

FASTag has already transformed toll collection by eliminating the need to wait in long queues. The tag automatically scans and deducts the toll amount from your linked account, saving both time and fuel. Now, the upcoming Annual Pass takes this convenience a step further.

Under the new plan, personal vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans can enjoy 200 toll crossings or one year of unlimited travel—whichever comes first—for a one-time recharge of ₹3,000. If you reach 200 toll transactions before the year ends, you’ll need to recharge again to continue using the service.

Who Will Benefit the Most?

This pass is a game-changer for daily or frequent highway commuters. Whether you drive for work, family visits, or long weekend trips, the Annual Pass ensures you’re not repeatedly logging in to recharge your FASTag. It’s particularly useful for those regularly traveling on NHAI-managed expressways and highways.

How to Get the FASTag Annual Pass

You don’t need to purchase a new FASTag to avail this service—the Annual Pass will simply be linked to your existing tag. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  1. Visit the Official Platform: Go to the Rajmarg Yatra mobile app or NHAI’s official website.

  2. Log In: Enter your vehicle registration number and FASTag ID.

  3. Make Payment: Pay ₹3,000 using UPI, debit card, credit card, or net banking.

  4. Confirmation: The Annual Pass will be activated on your current FASTag, and you’ll receive an SMS confirmation on August 15.

This pass will work exclusively on toll plazas under the NHAI and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Where Will It Work?

The Annual Pass will be valid on major national highways and expressways like:

  • Delhi–Mumbai Expressway

  • Mumbai–Nashik Highway

  • Mumbai–Surat Highway

  • Mumbai–Ratnagiri Highway

It will not be applicable on state highways or municipal toll roads. On such roads, your FASTag will continue to function as usual, deducting the standard toll fee from your balance.

Important Rules to Know

  • The Annual Pass is only for personal vehicles (cars, jeeps, and vans). Commercial vehicles are not eligible.

  • It is linked to a single registered vehicle and cannot be transferred.

  • The fee is non-refundable.

  • Once the 200 crossings or one-year period is over, you can renew by making another ₹3,000 payment.

Why This Move Matters

Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has highlighted that the initiative aims to make toll payments even smoother and more efficient. For many, it will eliminate the hassle of remembering recharge dates, especially during long trips or busy schedules.

By introducing the FASTag Annual Pass, the government is not just offering convenience—it’s also encouraging more people to adopt cashless, time-saving travel solutions.

With this launch coinciding with Independence Day, the FASTag Annual Pass could mark a new era in hassle-free road travel for millions of Indian drivers.
