How to Avoid Counterfeit Notes?
- If you want to avoid being defrauded, it is essential to know some important methods for identifying counterfeit notes. These methods will help you easily distinguish between genuine and fake notes.
- Always check the blank or white space on the note. Hold the note up to the light. If a clear watermark of Mahatma Gandhi's picture and the note's serial number is visible, the note is genuine.
- When accepting a note, always check the security thread. It appears as a straight black line with the words 'Bharat' and 'RBI' printed on it.
- Pay attention to the quality of the paper when accepting a note. Indian currency notes are printed on a special type of paper. When you hold it in your hand, you will feel a distinct firmness and crispness.
- The numbers printed on ₹100, ₹200, and ₹500 notes are printed with special ink. When viewed directly, the numbers appear green, and when the note is tilted slightly, the same numbers change to blue.
