Videos will now be uploaded and shown on Facebook only in Reels format. Announcing this, Meta said that in the coming months, all videos uploaded on Facebook, whether short or long, will be published only as Reels. This change has been made in the direction of completely changing how users create and watch video content.

Now only one video system

Till now Facebook users could decide whether they wanted to put a video as a reel or as a traditional video post. There were different editing tools for both, but now after this decision Meta, the difference between reel and normal video posts will end. Now all videos will be handled through a separate system in which the restrictions on the duration and format of the reel will also be removed.

Long and horizontal videos also in Reels

Till now Reels on Facebook were only vertical and short in duration, but now Meta will also provide the facility to convert them into long and horizontal videos. Along with this, privacy settings and publishing controls will also be changed.

Changes in privacy settings
Meta says that now the audience settings for both Feed and Reels will be the same, that is, the privacy settings chosen by the user will apply to all video content. When this new system is implemented, users will be suggested to review their privacy settings and make changes as needed. This will ensure that the videos reach only those audiences whom you want to show, be it friends, a special group or the general public.
