Every Migrant Worker to Receive a Gas Cylinder! Delhi Government Sets Up Special Camps...
Delhi Government's Special Camps for LPG Cylinders: The ongoing tension in the Middle East has had a noticeable impact on India as well. Reports of LPG cylinder shortages have emerged from various parts of the country. Amidst this situation, the Delhi Government has launched a major initiative to provide affordable and easily accessible LPG to migrant workers. Specifically, the Delhi Government is making gas cylinders available to migrant workers by organizing special camps. Additionally, the allocation for the delivery of 5-kilogram cylinders has been increased by 100 percent. Let's look at the documents required for obtaining a cylinder and other essential details.
Which Documents Are Required?
These special camps will be operated through authorized LPG distributors appointed by Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs). Eligible migrant workers can easily obtain a 5-kilogram FTL (Free Trade LPG) cylinder by submitting their Aadhaar card and making the necessary payment. Furthermore, the entire process will be strictly monitored to ensure transparency and maintain order.
Instructions Issued to All DMs
The Delhi Government has issued directives to all District Magistrates (DMs) to organize special camps in areas with a high concentration of migrant workers. Additionally, migrant workers facing difficulties in procuring cylinders may contact their respective District Magistrate's office to request the organization of a camp in their specific locality.
Alleviating the Hardships of Migrant Workers
For your information, following a new allocation provided by the Central Government, the daily availability of 5-kilogram FTL (Free Trade LPG) cylinders in Delhi has been doubled. Now, instead of 684 cylinders per day, 1,368 cylinders will be available daily. The large population of migrant workers residing in Delhi often faces difficulties due to the unavailability of LPG cylinders.
This new arrangement is expected to resolve their problems to a significant extent. This initiative is an integral part of the Delhi Government's welfare policy for migrant workers. The government's objective is to ensure that no worker is compelled to rely on expensive or illicit fuels for cooking purposes. Awareness regarding this scheme will also be disseminated through these special camps to ensure that the maximum number of eligible migrant workers can avail themselves of its benefits.
