The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) will now deploy facilitators (EPFO Service Agents New Proposal) to provide its members with seamless services such as transfers, withdrawals, and job-to-job adjustments. The Union Labor Ministry is recognizing the need for these facilitators to provide a quick resolution to EPFO services, similar to the facilitators who provide income tax and GST services.

Proposal to be placed in the meeting for approval
In light of this, Union Labor and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya (EPFO Reforms 2026 Mansukh Mandaviya) has approved the proposal to advance the EPFO's first licensed service agent proposal. This proposal will be placed for approval at the next meeting of the EPFO Board of Trustees. This initiative to deploy facilitator agents is part of the ongoing efforts to simplify and improve EPFO services.

Licenses will be issued after training.
Top officials in the Ministry of Labor stated that a large number of EPFO members are not comfortable with the processes, whether physical or online, for various services, ranging from withdrawals, transfers, and advances. This results in difficulties or delays in availing common services. EPFO service providers will act as resolution agents.

The Ministry of Labor has developed a framework for creating service provider agents. These agents will be selected and then provided with thorough training (EPFO Licensed Agents Training). Following this, the selected service providers will be issued licenses, which will help provide prompt service to account holders at EPFO offices across the country.

The government will determine the fees for services.
Service provider agents will not receive any salary; instead, the government will charge a nominal convenience fee for various EPF services. Account holders can avail themselves of EPF services as soon as possible by paying these fixed fees. According to Labor Ministry officials, this proposal will be placed for approval at the EPFO Board of Trustees' meeting in February. The Board of Trustees takes the final decision on all policy matters and proposals related to EPFO.

Several reforms implemented under EPFO 2.0
Several online services have already been implemented for account holders as part of the reforms under EPFO 2.0. These have significantly simplified services ranging from PF withdrawals to account transfers. The next goal in this regard is to provide EPF account holders with instant withdrawals through UPI.

Labor Minister Mandaviya has already announced the linking of EPF accounts with UPI by March this year. Following this, the initiative to provide an ATM (EPFO ATM Withdrawal March 2026) facility will also gain momentum. As a result of the reforms in EPFO, nearly 65.75 lakh PF accounts have been transferred seamlessly by December 2025. During the same period, 4.60 crore claims have been settled, and over 70 lakh pensioners are receiving their monthly pension uninterruptedly.
