EPFO Update: Software upgrade disrupts several services, causing passbook access and login issues for many users
EPFO Update: The EPFO has completed a technical upgrade. While pending claims and online requests will be processed over the next two weeks, users may currently experience difficulties with certain online services.
EPFO Passbook: If you are trying to view your PF passbook and it isn't opening, or if you are facing trouble logging into the EPFO website or the UMANG app, there is no need to panic. There is no issue with your account; the problem stems from the EPFO's recent system upgrade.
The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has completed a technical upgrade to make its digital systems faster and more efficient than before. Significant changes have been made to the database and software during this process. The organization has stated that pending claims and other online requests will be settled in a phased manner over the next two weeks.
Which services are facing issues?
Following the completion of the technical work, many users are currently facing various difficulties while using the website and online services. According to the EPFO, it may take some time for all services to return to normal operations.
Several EPFO services on the UMANG app are not functioning correctly at the moment, and users are experiencing login issues.
Many members are unable to file new claims or view their PF passbooks.
Members and employers are facing difficulties signing in to the member login portal.
What is the EPFO's advice?
According to the EPFO, all claims and records are undergoing additional verification following the software upgrade to ensure services are more secure and accurate than before. Consequently, the processing of claims and other services may take longer than usual. The organization has appealed to members and employers to exercise patience for the time being. It has also advised them to avoid repeatedly submitting the same request or frequently using online services during peak hours. It stated that all services will gradually return to normal over the next week to ten days. Subsequently, the facility to withdraw funds from PF accounts via UPI will also be launched.
