The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has reopened its portal after an upgrade process lasting nearly two weeks. The EPFO stated that PF account holders can now log in and access their passbooks. Services such as viewing account statements and balances have also been restored on the portal. Previously, the EPFO had kept the PF website offline to carry out technical updates and modify rules for certain services. During this period, users faced difficulties logging in and processing claims.

According to a notice on the EPFO portal, details of transactions made during the current year are currently available in the PF passbook, but information regarding past transactions has not yet been made available. Work is underway to migrate data on transactions from previous years to the account holders' passbooks, and this feature will become available within the next few days. The EPFO had initially shut down its portal in late June for maintenance work. While the organization had originally stated that maintenance would conclude by June 28 and services would resume on June 29, the process took an additional 11 days to complete.

**8.25% Interest Coming Soon**
The EPFO has resumed services shortly after announcing an interest rate of 8.25% for the previous financial year. The organization stated that interest payments to provident fund account holders will begin after July 15. Account holders will be able to view the credited interest by logging into their passbooks. The EPFO is set to credit this interest to the accounts of approximately 8 crore subscribers. Once the data migration process is complete, account holders will be able to log in and view the interest amount in their passbooks.

**Details of past transactions not currently visible**
According to information displayed after logging into the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) portal, the passbook currently shows the transaction history for the current year only; the history of earlier transactions will become available in the coming days. This process is fully automated, requiring no action or request from the account holder. EPFO states that the migration of PF account transaction data began on July 3 and will be completed shortly.

**UAN generation no longer available via the UAN portal**
EPFO has also updated the services on its portal. PF account holders will no longer be able to activate their UAN (Universal Account Number) through the Unified Member Portal; instead, they must use the UMANG mobile app. The UAN will be generated on the UMANG app using Aadhaar-based face authentication technology. Further details regarding this change will be provided on the upgraded EPFO portal.
