EPFO Passbook: Salaried employees, stop worrying about PF interest! Check how much your money has grown in just 2 minutes..
If you are employed and have PF (Provident Fund) deductions from your salary every month, there is good news for you. The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has credited the interest—fixed at 8.25% for the financial year 2025-26—to crores of accounts. Although the process began on July 15, there is no need to panic if the interest does not yet appear in your account; it often takes some time for updates to reflect across all accounts. The interest will be fully credited to all eligible accounts.
Many PF members wonder how to check the interest credited by the EPFO. While there are several ways to do this, we will share a method that provides full details of your balance in just one minute.
**Check PF Balance via EPFO Passbook**
The easiest way to view your PF balance is through the EPFO passbook.
First, visit the official EPFO website and log in to the 'Passbook' section.
Enter your UAN, password, and the captcha code.
If your UAN is linked to your Aadhaar, complete the login process using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
After logging in, click on the 'View Passbook' or 'Passbook Lite' option.
Here, you will find complete details regarding the monthly contributions made by both the employee and the employer, the interest earned, and the total PF balance.
If the interest has been credited recently, it will also appear in the passbook.
You can also use this passbook to check when the last contribution was deposited into your account.
**Information via SMS and UMANG App**
If you do not wish to log in to the website, you can check your PF balance via SMS. For this, your UAN must be active, and your KYC must be complete. Send an SMS with the text "EPFOHO UAN" from your registered mobile number to 7738299899. You will shortly receive details regarding your PF balance and the last contribution on your mobile phone.
Additionally, almost all PF-related services can be accessed through the UMANG app. After logging into the app using your UAN, you can view details regarding your balance, passbook, claim status, and pension. You can also download the passbook if needed.
What to do if the interest is not visible?
Sometimes, even after the interest has been credited, it does not immediately appear in the passbook. This could be due to technical updates or the time required to update records. There is no need to worry in such cases. According to EPFO rules, full interest is credited to all accounts, even if it reflects after a delay.
If the information remains unupdated for a long period, first verify that your UAN is active, your Aadhaar, PAN, and bank account are correctly linked, and your KYC is complete. If necessary, you can contact the EPFO helpline or visit the nearest EPFO office. Make it a habit to check your passbook periodically; this ensures you stay informed about your account balance, interest, and any discrepancies in a timely manner.
