EPFO: It is necessary to link Aadhaar with PF account, if not done then this loss will occur..

The purpose of linking Aadhaar with UAN (Universal Account Number) is that the facilities related to PF should be available directly to the employees, without going through the employer. If the Aadhaar of the member is verified with UIDAI, then he can update his profile himself, but those whose Aadhaar is not yet linked or verified have to get approval from the employer or EPFO for the change.
EPFO started this facility on 13 August 2025
If the name, gender, and date of birth recorded in UAN exactly match the information recorded in Aadhaar, then the member can go to their employer and link Aadhaar with UAN. For this, the KYC feature available on the employer's portal will be used, and separate approval from EPFO will not be required. Earlier, even a slight difference in the name, gender, or date of birth had to go through many levels of approval and a lot of paperwork.
What is UAN?
UAN is a 12-digit unique number, which is given by EPFO (Employees Provident Fund Organization). This number remains the same even if you change jobs.
Joint Declaration (JD) for Aadhaar Update
EPFO has now made the JD process for changing Aadhaar-related information easier. Now those whose Aadhaar is not linked, or whose Aadhaar needs to be updated, can do this through a new simple process. If there is a difference in the name, gender, or date of birth in Aadhaar and UAN, then the employer can request a change through the JD form.
Correcting the wrong Aadhaar
If the wrong Aadhaar has been linked with UAN by mistake, then the employer can send the correct Aadhaar number online by filling the JD form, which will be approved by the officials.
If the company is closed or the employer is unavailable
If the employer is not available or the company is closed, then the member can submit the physical JD form at the PRO counter of the concerned EPFO Regional Office. This form must be signed by an authorized person. After verification, the PRO will put this request in the system.
