According to discussions emerging from the corridors of the EPFO (Employees' Provident Fund Organisation), the central government may give employees some great news regarding interest rates this time. An increase in interest rates is expected for the financial year 2025-26, which will directly benefit employees in the form of higher interest on their deposits.

Will the 8.75% interest rate be approved?
Currently, the biggest question in the minds of PF account holders is how much interest they will receive on their deposits this year. According to sources and market experts, the government may increase the interest rate to 8.75 percent.

It's worth remembering that the central government provided an 8.2 percent interest rate for the financial year 2024-25, which has already been credited to employees' accounts. Now, the expectation of increased rates for the new financial year has boosted employee morale. However, no official announcement has been made by the government yet, but it is believed that a final decision may be taken in January.

How to get Rs 52,000?
The potential increase in the interest rate will directly impact your PF balance. If we look at the figures, an employee with approximately Rs 6 lakh in their PF account could receive around Rs 50,000 to Rs 52,000 in interest at a rate of 8.75%. Similarly, if someone has Rs 5 lakh in their account, they could receive approximately Rs 42,000 in interest.

This amount will be added directly to your retirement fund, leading to a rapid increase in your savings. Approximately 8 crore PF account holders in the country are eagerly awaiting this decision. The proposal is likely to be discussed at the upcoming meeting of the EPFO's Central Board of Trustees (CBT), after which the interest rates will be approved.
