EPFO: How much interest did you earn in your PF account in a year? Check it from home in just 1 minute, this is the easiest way..
EPFO Update: If you work and have PF deducted from your salary every month, this news is very important for you. PF is a savings account that gradually grows into a substantial fund, but most people fail to see how much interest is accruing to their PF account each year. The good news is that you can now easily check both your PF balance and interest in just one minute, sitting at home.
News suggests that the government is considering increasing the interest rate in the new financial year, which could be a relief for millions of employees.
What is the interest rate on PF?
The EPFO has fixed an interest rate of 8.25 percent for the financial year 2024-25. This rate was the same last year as well. This interest is added to any amount deposited in your PF account during the year at the end of the financial year. A decision on next year's interest rate is expected to be taken at the EPFO meeting around February 2026.
Currently, the salary limit for PF is ₹15,000. This means that anyone with a combined basic salary and DA of up to ₹15,000 must join the PF scheme. The government is considering increasing this limit so that more employees can benefit from better pensions in the future.
How and how much PF is deducted from salary?
PF deduction from salary is quite simple.
12 percent of an employee's basic salary and DA goes into PF.
The company also contributes 12 percent, but its share is divided into two parts.
One part goes into the pension scheme, and the remaining part is added to the PF.
