If you are a salaried employee and your PF (Provident Fund) is deducted, this news will bring you great relief. Until now, withdrawing PF money involved lengthy online processes or visits to offices, but all that is soon to become a thing of the past. EPFO (Employees' Provident Fund Organisation) is preparing to introduce a revolutionary facility that will allow you to withdraw money from your PF account just like you withdraw cash from a bank ATM. According to media reports, this facility could be launched for millions of subscribers across the country in 2026. However, no official statement has been released yet.

EPFO's 'Special Card' will work like a debit card
Under this new system, EPFO is planning to issue a 'special card' to its members. This card will function exactly like your bank debit card. According to reports, the government believes that PF money belongs to the account holder and access to it should be easy in times of need.

In this regard, EPFO has completed initial discussions with banks and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). It is claimed that the necessary technical infrastructure for ATM withdrawals has been almost completed.

The lives of millions of salaried employees will become easier
This decision will directly impact more than 70 million employees working in the organized sector of the country. Looking at EPFO data, there has been a tremendous increase in its coverage over the past decade. In 2014, the organization had 33 million subscribers and a fund of ₹7.4 lakh crore, which has now increased to more than ₹28 lakh crore.

Approximately 78 million people contribute to PF every month. With the increase in the size of the fund and the number of members, simplifying the settlement of claims was a major challenge for EPFO. The introduction of the ATM facility will not only provide employees with instant access to their money but will also reduce the workload on EPFO. The withdrawal limit is still uncertain, but preparations are complete.
While the facility to withdraw PF money through ATMs will be available, there will be a fixed limit. It is currently unclear how much money you will be able to withdraw at once or in a month. The decision on the withdrawal limit is yet to be made.

It is worth noting that EPFO is continuously simplifying its rules. Earlier this year, the organization increased the limit for automatic claim settlement to Rs 5 lakh, making it easier to withdraw money for expenses such as illness or marriage.
