The Employees Provident Fund Organization has set a new record. EPFO has added 21.89 lakh (about 22 lakh) new members in June 2025. About 22 lakh people have got formal jobs. This is the highest since the payroll data tracking started in April 2018. There has been an increase of 9.14 percent from May 2025 to June 2025. At the same time, year-on-year, there has been an increase of 13.46 percent in jobs in June 2025 as compared to June 2024. 3.02 lakh women have also joined in June.

EPFO added about 10.62 lakh new people in June 2025, which is 12.68% more than May 2025 and 3.61% more than June 2024. Most of these, i.e., 6.39 lakh people, are youth in the age group of 18-25 years, which is more than 60% of the total new people. Net increment in this age group reached 9.72 lakh, which shows an increase of 11.41% from May 2025 and 12.15% from June 2024. This trend shows that most of the new people are young and first-time jobholders.

People are rejoining EPFO.
The data shows that people are opening their accounts in EPFO again. About 16.93 lakh people, who had previously left EPFO, have rejoined in June 2025. This is an increase of 5.09% from May 2025 to June and 19.65% compared to last year. These people transferred their old deposits to other accounts instead of withdrawing them. This simply means that people have preferred to transfer money to a new account instead of withdrawing the entire lump sum from the PF while leaving the job.

Now, women are also not behind.
The recent report of EPFO also makes it clear that the number of women in India's workforce is increasing. The number of formal jobs for women has also increased. In the month of June alone, 3.02 lakh women have joined EPFO, which is 14.92 percent more than in the month of May. At the same time, if we talk about the annual figures, then there has been a significant increase in that, too. This year, the number of women has increased by 10.29 percent compared to June 2025 last year.

An increase in the number of youth also.
According to the EPFO report, out of the new members joining EPFO in June 2025, about 6.39 lakh members are in the age group of 18 to 25 years, which is 60.22% of the total new members. This simply means that most of the people coming to the organized sector are young people who are starting their first job.

How many jobs are in which state?
Talking about new jobs in the country, 61.51% of the total jobs have come from only five states: Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Haryana. Most people have formal jobs in Maharashtra. 20.03% jobs have been found in this state alone. On the other hand, talking about the sector, most jobs have been created in the fields of 'expert services' such as manpower supply, security service, school-college, building-construction, and engineering products.

What is Payroll Data System?

Payroll Data System is a software that collects and manages the data of employees' salaries, taxes, profits, and leave. EPFO started releasing payroll data from April 2018, which includes data from September 2017. In this, the net monthly payroll is calculated by counting the new members joining EPFO for the first time through Aadhaar-validated Universal Account Number (UAN), the existing members exiting the EPFO , and the members who rejoined after exiting the EPFO.
