The days of enduring long waits and the hassle of filling out forms to withdraw money from PF accounts are about to become a thing of the past. EPFO ​​is preparing to launch 'EPFO 3.0' by upgrading its existing system.

This new system will incorporate several high-tech features designed to make managing a PF account as easy and convenient as operating a standard savings bank account.

What is 'EPFO 3.0'?
'EPFO 3.0' is a highly advanced and centralized version of the current IT system. Previously, EPFO ​​data operated across servers at various regional offices, frequently causing portal outages. 'EPFO 3.0' will be entirely cloud-based, eliminating website hanging issues and enabling operations to run at super-fast speeds.

Claims up to ₹5 lakh to be 'Auto-Settled'
Under the new rules, advance claims of up to ₹5 lakh for emergencies—such as illness, marriage, or home purchases—will be processed via auto-settlement. This means no official intervention will be required to approve your claim; the computer system will automatically verify your details, and the funds will be transferred directly to your bank account within 3 to 4 days.

Withdrawals from PF accounts via ATM and UPI
In the near future, PF accounts could be integrated with modern banking systems and the UPI network. This would spare employees from filling out lengthy forms for small advances or emergency funds. Plans include a feature allowing employees to instantly withdraw PF funds up to a specified limit via ATMs and UPI during medical emergencies.

It is worth noting that EPFO ​​had originally planned to launch this facility in July; however, the rollout was postponed due to technical glitches on the website. Earlier, it was speculated that this facility would launch in August. Now, preparations are underway to launch the feature in September. However, there has been no official statement from the EPFO ​​so far.
