EPFO 2.01: Withdrawing PF has become even easier starting today, thanks to the launch of the EPFO 2.01 system. Here is what you need to know about its key features.
EPFO 2.01: There is good news for crores of PF account holders across the country. The Central Government is implementing a new system called EPFO 2.01 starting tomorrow, July 2, 2026. This will make PF-related tasks significantly easier and faster than before. Most importantly, employees will be able to withdraw up to 75% of the funds in their PF accounts without having to provide a reason. Additionally, withdrawing PF funds via ATMs will also become possible.
What is the new change?
Until now, citing a specific reason was often mandatory for withdrawing PF funds. Furthermore, the claim process used to be time-consuming as files had to move between various EPFO offices. With the introduction of the new system, the entire process will take place on a single digital platform, leading to faster claim settlements and less hassle for employees.
Easy withdrawal of up to 75% of funds
Once the new rules are implemented, employees will be able to withdraw up to 75% of the total funds accumulated in their PF accounts. This amount will include contributions from both the employee and the employer, along with the accrued interest. The government states that this will enable people to access funds quickly during times of need.
Funds accessible via UPI
The government is also set to launch a facility to withdraw PF funds via UPI soon. However, this feature will not be available starting July 2; it is reported that the UPI facility will be activated approximately 7 to 10 days after the new system is fully operational. Subsequently, employees will be able to link their UPI accounts to their PF accounts via the EPFO portal and receive PF funds directly through UPI.
Why is the EPFO portal closed today?
To implement the new system, the facility for submitting and processing claims on the EPFO portal has been temporarily suspended until 11:59 PM on July 1. All services will return to normal once the new system goes live on July 2.
How will employees benefit?
The introduction of the new system will make withdrawing PF funds easier than before. Claims will be approved faster, eliminating the need for repeated visits to offices, and in the near future, PF amounts will be directly credited to accounts via UPI. The government states that this will make the entire process faster, simpler, and more convenient.
