EPF Interest Rate: There is great news for approximately 8 crore EPF account holders. The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has officially announced an interest rate of 8.25% for the financial year 2025-26. Along with this, instructions have been issued to all regional offices to credit the interest amount to the members' accounts.

In a recent circular, the EPFO stated that the Central Government has approved the 8.25% interest rate for 2025-26 under Paragraph 60(1) of the Employees' Provident Fund Scheme, 1952. All concerned offices have now been directed to credit this interest to members' EPF accounts as soon as possible.

**Interest to be credited sooner this time**

This time, the EPFO has consolidated its database and upgraded its software systems.

Consequently, the process of crediting interest is expected to be faster and easier than before. Previously, it used to take one to two months for interest to be credited to all accounts, but this time, the process could be significantly faster.

**Members had been waiting for a long time**

EPF members had been waiting for the interest to be credited to their accounts for quite some time. The EPFO's Central Board of Trustees (CBT) had approved the 8.25% interest rate for the financial year 2025-26 in March 2026. Subsequently, the proposal was sent to the Central Government.

According to the rules, after the CBT's approval, the proposal goes to the Ministry of Finance. Interest is credited to accounts only after final approval is received.

**Interest rate remains unchanged for the third consecutive year**

The Ministry of Finance approved the 8.25% interest rate in June 2026. With this, the EPF interest rate has remained at 8.25% for the third consecutive year. Now, following the formal approval, the EPFO has issued instructions to initiate the process of crediting the interest amount to the accounts. In other words, if you hold an EPF account, the 8.25% interest for the financial year 2025-26 will soon reflect in your account.
