EPF: Have you forgotten your old EPF account? You can track it via the EPFO's new e-portal..
Many private-sector employees forget to transfer their EPF accounts. After several years pass, they often do not remember their account numbers. This issue is particularly common among employees who hold more than one Universal Account Number (UAN). According to EPFO rules, an individual should have only one UAN.
**Facility to transfer balances from old accounts**
EPFO has launched a new website to address the difficulties faced by employees. Through this, employees can track their old EPF accounts. Furthermore, the website allows for the transfer of funds from old accounts to the current EPF account and enables applications for the settlement of accumulated funds.
**Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje informs the Lok Sabha**
Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Shobha Karandlaje, shared this information in the Lok Sabha on July 27. Responding to a question from Lok Sabha member V.K. Sreekandan, Karandlaje stated that the EPFO has launched a secure digital platform. This platform enables EPFO subscribers to track their old, inactive EPF accounts.
**Employees can view their complete service history on the portal**
With this EPFO facility, employees can verify whether their EPF accounts from previous jobs have been merged under a single UAN. This requires Aadhaar-based authentication, meaning the old accounts must be linked to Aadhaar. The facility allows employees to view their entire service history.
**No need for physical documentation**
The government's objective is to provide employees with the facility to track their old EPF accounts online. Karandlaje noted that the new portal would reduce the need for manual intervention and eliminate the requirement for physical documents. Additionally, the entire process will be much faster, and the system is transparent. Transfer of Old EPF Account Balance to Happen Soon
An online facility for transferring the balance from an old EPF account to a current one has long been available. However, the launch of a new dedicated e-portal has made this process easier than before. This facility has significantly simplified the process of accessing funds accumulated in employees' EPF accounts.
