A video is currently going viral on social media claiming that a passenger traveling on the Rajdhani Express entered the wrong age while booking their ticket online; consequently, the TTE (Traveling Ticket Examiner) issued a fine of ₹7,000 during a check. How to make corrections to an online ticket?

There is no option available on the IRCTC website or the Rail Connect app to correct errors after a ticket has been booked. If passengers wish to make corrections to their ticket online, they must cancel the existing ticket and book a new one. However, according to railway rules, passengers can make certain changes to their tickets by visiting the nearest railway reservation center.

How to change the boarding station?

According to railway rules, passengers cannot make arbitrary changes to tickets booked online. However, limited modifications—such as changes to the passenger's name or boarding station—are possible. You can change the boarding station for a booked ticket online by visiting the IRCTC website or the Rail Connect app. You can modify the journey's boarding station by accessing your booked ticket history.

As per the rules, you cannot alter the journey date. If you need to change the date of travel, you must cancel the booked ticket and book a fresh one. Meanwhile, to change the passenger's name or other details, you must visit a railway reservation center. There, you will need to present the booked ticket along with valid proof of identity. Any modification to the ticket is possible only after this stage.

You must visit a reservation counter to change details such as the passenger's name on the ticket. Along with the printout of the ticket booked online, you will need to submit your ID proof, the ID proof of the new passenger, and proof of your relationship with them. Please note that any changes to the ticket can only be made up to 24 hours before the train's scheduled departure; it is not possible to modify the ticket after this time.
