Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana: The Government of India runs numerous schemes for the public; one such initiative is the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana. Let us take a closer look at this scheme.

Employment Scheme: The Government of India continuously runs various schemes to assist the public. While some schemes aim to empower or educate women, others focus on employment. One such recently launched initiative is the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY). Under this scheme, the central government will provide an incentive of up to ₹15,000 to young people starting their first formal job.

What is the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana?

This scheme was launched to encourage the country's unemployed youth to seek employment. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the scheme during his Independence Day address on August 15, 2025. Subsequently, the Union Cabinet approved the scheme in July 2025, and it was implemented for the period from August 1, 2025, to July 31, 2027.

Who will benefit from the scheme?

The benefits of this scheme will be available to employees whose jobs are registered with the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) and whose monthly income is less than ₹1 lakh. Additionally, this facility is exclusively for individuals starting a job in the formal sector for the first time.

The amount will be disbursed in two installments

The government will provide the scheme's incentive amount in two installments. The first installment of ₹7,500 will be awarded after the employee has completed six months of continuous service. To qualify for this, the employee must also complete a free financial literacy course. The amount will be transferred directly to the employee's Aadhaar-linked bank account. The second installment of ₹7,500 will be provided after the completion of 12 months of continuous service. However, this amount will not be credited directly to the account; instead, it will be deposited into a savings scheme and paid out at a later date.

How much will be received in-hand?

It is crucial for beneficiaries of this scheme to understand that if an employee's monthly gross salary is ₹15,000, the in-hand amount may be slightly lower due to the contribution towards the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF). Typically, the basic salary and dearness allowance range between ₹9,000 and ₹10,500. After a 12% EPF deduction on this, the employee's monthly in-hand salary would be approximately ₹13,500 to ₹13,900.
