Elon Musk has taken a big step towards integrating all his businesses into an AI-based future. According to news agency Reuters, Musk's space company SpaceX has invested $2 billion in his AI startup xAI. The investment aims to bring artificial intelligence (AI) to the center of all his companies, SpaceX, Tesla, and social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

X and xAI merge, company value $113 billion.

The move comes at a time when xAI merged with X earlier this year. The valuation of the company formed after the merger is now around $113 billion. This funding round was led by Morgan Stanley in June, reflecting investors' strong confidence in Musk's AI-based strategy.

Grok: Musk's 'one AI, for everyone'

The main basis of this master plan is Grok - a chatbot developed by xAI, which, according to Musk, will be used in all businesses. Grok is already being used for customer support in SpaceX's satellite internet service Starlink and is also being planned to be brought to Tesla's Optimus robots. Musk plans for Grok to become a universal AI system that can control all platforms, including rockets, robots, and social media with a single AI.

SpaceX's largest external investment so far
This $2 billion investment is the largest investment SpaceX has ever made in an external project. SpaceX usually focuses only on rockets and satellites, but the company has previously supported Musk's other ventures. For example, SpaceX helped Tesla in its initial difficulties and also gave a loan of $1 billion in the purchase of Twitter (now X), which Musk later repaid.

Risks and challenges also exist
Investing such a large amount in AI has its own risks. SpaceX is already investing heavily in its ambitious Starship project, which is facing constant delays and test failures. According to reports, SpaceX currently has $3 billion in cash, but funding two large projects like Starship and xAI simultaneously could put pressure on the company's financial position and investor expectations.
