Uttar Pradesh Electricity Bill: If you are an electricity consumer in Uttar Pradesh and your name, mobile number, email, or address is recorded incorrectly on your bill, you no longer need to make repeated visits to the electricity department's offices to get it corrected. The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has clarified via a post on the social media platform X that consumers can now apply online to update their information.

How to update details online

If you need to change information related to your electricity bill or account, you can follow these simple steps:

Visit the official UPPCL website.
Click on the 'Consumer Corner' section.
Select the 'Service Request' option.
Click on 'Update Contact Details' or the option to correct your mobile number and email.
Enter the new information and submit the application.
You can also apply online to correct errors such as an incorrect name, wrong meter reading, or other mistakes on the bill.

Simple ways to reduce your electricity bill

UPPCL has also shared some easy tips for consumers to save electricity:
Turn off the Wi-Fi router at night when it is not in use.
Switch off the main power supply for the charger after your mobile or laptop is fully charged.
Turn off the TV using the main power switch, not just the remote control.

What is 'Vampire Load'?

'Vampire load' refers to electronic devices that remain plugged in even when not in use. People often assume no electricity is being consumed in such cases, but these devices continue to draw small amounts of power. Over time, this cumulative consumption can lead to higher electricity costs. Therefore, always turn off the main switch for your electronic devices after use to avoid excessive electricity bills.
