E-Shram Portal: How can 1 crore 'gig workers' apply for E-Shram card, understand the step-by-step process..

When the country's general budget was presented in Parliament on February 1, many big announcements were made for people of all classes. One of these announcements was also about gig workers. During the budget speech, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced to make arrangements for registration of 'Gig Workers' on the e-Shram portal. Through this, arrangements will be made to provide identity cards to these workers.

Who are 'Gig Workers' and where will the registration take place
Gig workers are those workers whose work is temporary. In other words, they do some work temporarily and then change their job when they get a better opportunity. The 'workers' who deliver goods through apps like Swiggy, Zomato, Uber are an example of this. Registration can be done by visiting the authorized website https://eshram.gov.in/. After registration, cards are issued to gig workers.
How to register
First of all, go to the website https://eshram.gov.in/. Click on Ragister on esharm.
After this, fill in the mobile number linked to the Aadhaar card and the captcha code. Answer whether you are a member of EPFO and ESIC or not.
Click on Send OTP and enter the OTP received on the mobile.
After this, enter the 14-digit Aadhaar number. Tickmark on T&C and submit.
Now a new page will open. Add personal information like DOB, address, education and bank details etc. in it.
After this, read all the information carefully tick on Consent, and click on Submit.
After this, your registration will be done. You can download it and take a printout.
On the other hand, if you want to register offline, then you can also apply by visiting CSC (Common Service Center). While applying, you will need Aadhaar card, mobile number linked to Aadhaar and bank account number along with IFSC Code.
E-Shram cardholders will get these benefits
Registered workers on e-Shram portal get many benefits. If the e-Shram card holder dies due to any reason, financial assistance of up to 2 lakhs is given to the family. At the same time, in case of disability, 1 lakh rupees are given. Under the PM Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana, they are given a monthly pension of Rs 3,000 after 60. Apart from this, the government connects them with employment opportunities and training programs matching their skills.
