The Department of Education (DOE) has issued a circular for Delhi schools. This circular is related to admission of class 9,10. The Department of Education (DOE) said in the circular that no student will be denied admission after being allotted a school under the non-plan admission process, except if discrepancies are found in the relevant documents.

Circular issued

The Department of Education (DOE) on Wednesday issued a circular for admission to classes 9 to 10 in government and government-aided schools in Delhi, amid reports of denial of admission to students for not providing Aadhaar or bank account details. No student will be denied admission except in case of discrepancy found in the relevant documents after being allotted a school under the non-plan admission process, the circular said.

Age-based admission

It further said that children up to Class 8 under the Right to Education Act (RTE) will be admitted to classes as per their age during the entire academic session. The circular also said that students will not be denied admission for not having Aadhaar or bank account. For students who were allotted schools during the previous cycles of non-plan admission, the admission process should be completed by September 16, 2024.

Additionally, the criteria for admission to age-appropriate classes will not apply to students who have passed the previous class from a recognised school or board during the 2023-24 academic year. The Directorate of Education has also stressed in the circular that transfers after mid-term exams should be avoided but in genuine cases, it should be done by the regional or district grievance redressal committee.
