Before Diwali, the Modi government increased the dearness allowance (DA) for central government employees, along with a Non-Productivity Linked Bonus, equivalent to 30 days' salary, or approximately ₹6,908. This bonus will be available to employees in Group B, Group C, security forces, and Union Territories. However, not everyone will receive it. The government has established specific rules: only employees who work the prescribed hours and do not take excessive leave will be eligible. Others will not receive this bonus.

What are the conditions for receiving the bonus?
The government has made it clear that certain requirements must be met to receive the Diwali bonus. The first requirement is that the employee must have worked continuously for a certain period of time. If someone takes a long leave of absence or does not complete the full term, they will not receive this bonus. This means that only those employees who work continuously and diligently will receive this benefit. According to the report, this Non-Productivity Linked Bonus will only be given to employees who remain employed until March 31, 2025, and have worked continuously for at least six months.

How much bonus will you receive?
The government has set a maximum bonus amount of ₹7,000. However, not everyone will receive the full amount. The bonus will be based on your basic salary. The bonus will be calculated using a fixed formula: 7000 × 30 ÷ 30.4 = ₹6907.89. This means you could receive a bonus of ₹6,908 in your account.

Dearness Allowance (DA) Increase
It is worth noting that before Diwali, the government also announced an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA). This increase will be effective from July 1, 2025. The DA rate has now increased from 55% to 58%. Employees will receive this benefit with their October salary, which will include their arrears. This increased DA will be effective from July 1, 2025, but will be paid with the October 2025 salary. This means that employees and pensioners will receive the additional DA for the three months of July, August, and September together in the October salary.

If an employee's basic salary is ₹50,000, they previously received 55% DA, or ₹27,500. Now, with DA at 58%, they will receive ₹29,000. This means they will receive ₹1,500 more per month. Similarly, those with a basic pension of ₹25,000 previously received ₹13,750 as DR; they will now receive ₹14,500. This means their pension will increase by ₹750.
