Digital Life Certificate: How to Get Your Jeevan Pramaan Patra Made from Home
The months of October and November are crucial for pensioners, as they need to submit their life certificates to their bank or post office. To make this process more convenient, the government has introduced a facility for pensioners to get their Digital Life Certificate (DLC) from the comfort of their home. Here’s how you can get your digital life certificate made without stepping out.
What is a Digital Life Certificate?
A Digital Life Certificate, also known as Jeevan Pramaan Patra, is a biometric-enabled digital service that allows pensioners to prove their existence for pension purposes. It is available to pensioners of the Central Government, State Governments, Employees Provident Fund Organization, and any other government organization that offers pension disbursement.
Who Issues the Digital Life Certificate?
Currently, the Digital Life Certificate is issued by India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) in collaboration with the National Informatics Center (NIC) of the Government of India.
How to Get a Digital Jeevan Pramaan Certificate?
- Post Office Visit: If you're able to visit a post office, you can get your DLC made there.
- Home Service: If you're unable to go to the post office, you can opt for a doorstep service. The postman or rural postal servant will come to your home to help you generate your Digital Life Certificate. You’ll need to provide basic pension account information for this service.
Required Documents
To get a Digital Life Certificate, you must have:
- The original Pension Payment Order (PPO) or a copy of the pension payment order
- Bank account details
- Your mobile number
- Aadhaar number
Information Needed for DLC Generation
You’ll need to provide the following:
- Your Aadhaar number
- Your name
- Mobile number
- Pension-related information, including PPO number, pension account number, bank details, PSA, PDA name, etc.
- Biometrics (either iris scan or fingerprint). Currently, fingerprint biometrics are being used for generating the DLC through IPPB.
Fees
A nominal fee of ₹70 is charged for generating the Jeevan Pramaan Patra, which includes service tax. This fee applies if the service is availed at home.
After the DLC is Made
Once the Digital Life Certificate is generated, pensioners do not need to visit the bank or post office to submit it. The DLC will automatically be available to the concerned authorities electronically, eliminating the need for physical submission.
This initiative simplifies the process for pensioners, allowing them to complete their documentation without leaving their homes.
