A campaign has been launched in Bihar to create digital health records for every citizen. On September 2, Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary inaugurated the 'Jaanch evam Upchar - Chikitsa Aapke Dwar' (Testing and Treatment - Medical Care at Your Doorstep) campaign across all 38 districts. This special campaign will run for three months, from September 2 to November 30. Samrat Chaudhary has instructed all District Magistrates to oversee the campaign. He stated that the objective is to ensure timely detection and treatment of diseases rather than waiting for conditions to become severe, as early testing allows for identification and facilitates better treatment.

**Screening for people over 30**
Under this campaign, health screenings will be conducted for individuals over the age of 30. Government health workers will visit households to provide preliminary check-ups and consultations. If necessary, treatment facilities ranging from 'Ayushman Arogya Mandirs' to district hospitals will be made available to patients. The campaign will screen for conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, heart disease, respiratory and lung-related ailments, and fatty liver.

The Deputy Chief Minister stated that the government aims to screen approximately 6 crore people in the state and create their health records. These records will be stored digitally for effective use during future medical treatments. He noted that 45 types of surgeries are now being performed in district hospitals, up from the previous 36 types conducted in district and sub-divisional hospitals. Patient referrals from these hospitals have decreased, while the number of surgeries performed locally has risen; the number of operations increased from 2,428 in June to over 8,000 now.

**Anemia screening campaign also underway**
He mentioned that a campaign to screen for anemia is also being conducted, with a target of screening one crore people. He also spoke of launching 'Mission Kayakalp' to strengthen primary healthcare services; under this initiative, facilities at Primary Health Centres (PHCs), Additional Primary Health Centres (APHCs), and sub-centres will be improved. He stated that arrangements would be made to provide training in foreign languages ​​to students of nursing and paramedical colleges in order to strengthen human resources in the health sector. This would enable them to secure better employment opportunities both within the country and abroad.
