What is digital arrest?
The digital arrest is an advanced way of blackmailing. The victims of digital arrest scams are those people who are more educated and more intelligent. A digital arrest simply means that someone is keeping an eye on you through video calling by threatening you online. During digital arrest, cyber thugs threaten people by posing as fake police officers and making them their victims. During this, they ask people to remain continuously on the video call, and in the meantime, they also keep transferring money to close the case.
How does digital arrest start?
Digital arrest starts with a message or phone call. The thugs doing digital arrests call people and say that they are talking to the police department or the income tax department. They say that many things have been purchased using your PAN and Aadhaar or money laundering has been done. Many times it is also claimed that they are speaking from the customs department and a parcel has come in your name that contains drugs or banned items.
After this, they make a video call and ask you to sit in front. During this time, no one is allowed to talk, message, or meet anyone. During this time, people are also asked for money in the name of bail. In this way, people remain imprisoned online in their own houses and this is called digital arrest.
What is the way to avoid digital arrest?
The easy way to avoid digital arrest is information. It starts with your fear. In such a situation, if you also get such threatening phone calls, then you do not need to be afraid. If someone calls and threatens you, do not be afraid, but face it boldly, because if you have not ordered any parcel, then there is no need to be afraid.
If you get such calls, immediately complain to the police. If any message or email comes, give it to the police as evidence. If for some reason you receive the call and someone starts threatening you on video call, then record the video call through screen recording and complain. Do not be afraid at any cost and do not send money at all.
