DoT New Portal: In changing times, cybercriminals have developed new methods to defraud people. Fraudsters have defrauded many people in India using techniques like phone calls, emails, and digital arrests. Recently, a retired banker in Delhi was defrauded of a massive ₹23 crore by fraudsters through digital arrest. Such incidents are frightening, but now, on behalf of the Government of India, the Department of Telecommunications has taken a major step to reduce this fear and has provided a facility to protect the public from fraud.
Telecom Department Launches New Verification System
The Telecom Department has developed a new system that allows citizens to verify whether a message is from their respective bank or institution, whether it's via email, contact number, or website. Citizens can easily verify whether it's from a reliable source.

Learn about the Sanchar Sarathi Portal
The new portal launched by the government is called the Sanchar Sarathi Portal. This new portal introduces a system through which users can obtain official information about a bank or institution. You can search by entering the bank's name, its website, email address, or phone number. Once the search is successful, the Sanchar Sarathi portal provides all the necessary information about the institution, including its official website, email address, phone number, toll-free number, WhatsApp contacts, and other customer support options.

This feature allows people to verify the accuracy of information themselves. For example, if you receive a suspicious phone call and someone claims to be from your bank, you can go to the Sanchar Sarathi portal and check if the number is listed on the portal. If it's not, it's likely a fake number.
DoT Takes This Step
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) wrote on the social media platform X, "Empowering citizens with secure digital choices. Think before sharing anything; scammers often pose as trusted institutions. Always verify and verify the contact on Sanchar Sarathi before responding."
