8th Pay Commission: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has given the green light for appointments to two key positions within the 8th Central Pay Commission. Smita Mol M.S. has been appointed as Deputy Secretary, and Ambika Anand has been appointed as Director.
8th Pay Commission: Strengthening the framework of the 8th Central Pay Commission (8th CPC), the Central Government has approved the appointment of two experienced officials. These appointments have been made on a 'lateral transfer' basis, signaling the government's seriousness in advancing the Commission's work in a time-bound manner.
Which Officials Have Been Assigned Responsibilities?
Smita Mol M.S.: Currently serving as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Smita Mol has now been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the 8th Pay Commission. Her tenure may extend until April 14, 2029, or until further orders are issued.
Ambika Anand: Currently posted as Director in the Ministry of Steel, Ambika Anand has been entrusted with the responsibility of Director within the Commission. Her tenure may continue until October 13, 2030.
Prior to these appointments, the government had already appointed Amit Satija (IAS) and Neeraj Kumar Gayagi (IDAS) as Joint Secretaries.

Employee Unions Step Up: 51-Page Memorandum Submitted.
Alongside the administrative appointments, the employee side has also intensified its demands. The Staff Side of the National Council (JCM) has submitted a detailed, 51-page memorandum to the Commission ahead of schedule. According to JCM Secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra, this proposal offers key recommendations regarding salary hikes, taking into account rising inflation and the basic needs of the employees.
