According to the university’s plan, ₹4,027 crore of the total expenditure will be allocated to the construction of new hostels, which will provide housing for 15,758 students. Additionally, as per a report by *The Indian Express* (IE), two existing hostels will be renovated at a cost of ₹1,862 crore, creating accommodation for an additional 6,137 students.

Delhi University Hostel Locations: Where Will the New Hostels be Built?

Under the DU plan, multi-story hostels will be constructed at the Dhaka Complex, the Surajmal Vihar campus, and the Najafgarh campus. Furthermore, according to the *IE* report, there are plans to build a hostel for students at the Veer Savarkar College, located in Roshanpura, Najafgarh. Additional hostel facilities will also be developed at the West Campus in Dwarka and the East Campus in Surajmal Vihar, Karkardooma.

The Executive Council has also approved proposals for the renovation of Jubilee Hall and the Postgraduate Hostel. Through these efforts, the university aims to both construct new facilities and improve existing residential infrastructure.

Delhi University Hostel Facilities: Amenities to be Provided

The new hostels will feature various amenities designed to cater to the daily needs of students. These will include a dining hall, a shop, a community hall, study rooms, and residential quarters for the warden. According to the university management, there is limited vacant land available for construction across the various campuses. Consequently, to ensure the optimal use of the available land, the building plans have been developed based on the maximum permissible Floor Area Ratio (FAR).
