Delhi to Haridwar in just 1 hour: Nitin Gadkari unveils plan for a new expressway
According to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, a new road project between Delhi and Haridwar is set to launch next month. This is expected to reduce travel time to just one hour.
If you currently spend hours traveling from Delhi to Haridwar, you will soon be able to complete the journey in just one hour. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced that a new road project—designed to make travel between Delhi and Haridwar easier—will commence next month. He stated that with this improved connectivity, the travel time from Delhi to Haridwar could be reduced to approximately one hour.
Gadkari shared details regarding various road and highway projects during a CII conference on Tuesday. He explained that an enhanced road network will not only shorten travel time but also provide greater convenience to pilgrims and tourists visiting religious sites. Furthermore, this is expected to boost employment opportunities in the tourism and local business sectors.
Travel time also reduced on the Delhi-Dehradun corridor
During the conference, Gadkari also highlighted the Delhi-Dehradun corridor. He noted that the travel time on this route, which was previously around seven hours, has now been reduced to approximately two hours. According to him, the primary objective of these road projects is to make travel between major cities and tourist destinations faster and more convenient.
How much progress has been made on the Char Dham project?
Gadkari stated that approximately 80% to 85% of the work on the Char Dham road project has been completed. He claimed that improved road connectivity has led to a threefold increase in traffic heading toward religious sites in Uttarakhand, such as Badrinath and Kedarnath. He added that the government is focused on developing a network of roads, bridges, and tunnels to improve access to religious and tourist destinations.
Which areas will benefit from the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway?
Citing the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway as an example, Gadkari stated that greenfield expressways can help connect rural, tribal, and underdeveloped districts to major economic hubs. According to him, several areas across Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat are expected to benefit from improved road connectivity. Furthermore, he specifically mentioned the districts of Alwar, Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, and Bundi in Rajasthan; Ratlam and Jhabua in Madhya Pradesh; and Dahod in Gujarat.
