Metro services will start from 4 am
According to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, services in metro trains on all metro lines will start from 4 am on 15th August. This change has been made for the convenience of special guests and general public attending the ceremony. Between 4 am and 6 am, metro trains will be available every 30 minutes. Whereas after 6 am, the metro will run as per its normal time table.
Who will get the chance to travel for free
With the early start of metro services on Independence Day, many people will also get a chance to travel for free in the metro. In fact, special guests of Independence Day who have a valid invitation letter from the Ministry of Defense will be given special tickets by DMRC. Through these tickets, passengers will be able to travel for free in the metro. The Defense Ministry itself will pay the fare for this journey to DMRC. The nearest metro stations to the Red Fort are Jama Masjid and Delhi Gate, so there will be special security arrangements at these stations on Independence Day.
Traffic restrictions
Delhi Traffic Police has also issued an advisory for August 15. According to the advisory, only pass holders will be allowed entry on many roads around the Red Fort. Also, entry of heavy vehicles will also be prohibited. People have also been appealed to avoid routes like India Gate, Tilak Marg, Netaji Subhash Chandra Marg, Mathura Road, Nizamuddin Khatta and Salamgarh Bypass and take alternative routes.
