A major update has emerged regarding the 'Delhi Lakshmi Yojana' launched for women in Delhi. Within just seven days of the scheme's launch, over 5 lakh women have registered. According to the Delhi government, 5,14,460 women had registered by August 8, and 2,18,728 applications have been submitted. The government is currently scrutinizing the applications and plans to disburse the first installment to eligible women this month on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan (August 28).
**How much money will be provided under the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana?**
Under the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, women belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) will receive financial assistance of ₹2,500 per month. A provision of ₹5,100 crore has been made for this scheme in the Delhi budget for the 2026-27 financial year.
Beneficiaries of this scheme will have two options for receiving the funds:
* **Option 1:** ₹1,000 will be provided via a CBDC wallet for daily expenses, while the remaining ₹1,500 will be deposited into an RD (Recurring Deposit) or FD (Fixed Deposit) account.
* **Option 2:** The entire amount of ₹2,500 will be deposited into an RD or FD account.
**Who is eligible for the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana?**
To avail the benefits of this scheme, the woman must be between 21 and 60 years of age at the time of application.
She must be the eldest female member of the family.
The family's annual income must not exceed ₹2.5 lakh.
The woman, her husband, or one of her parents must have been a resident of Delhi for at least 10 years. Additionally, the applicant must be a registered voter in Delhi.
**Which women will not be eligible for the scheme?**
The family's electricity consumption over the past 12 months must not exceed 2,400 units.
The applicant must not be receiving any pension or financial assistance from the Central or Delhi government.
The applicant must not be an income tax payer or a GST filer.
She must not be a government employee or hold a public office. Neither the woman nor any family member should own a four-wheeler.
The applicant must not have more than three children and must have no criminal record or pending criminal cases.
Additionally, no family member should be a regular or contractual employee of the Central or State Government, a PSU, a government board, a local body, or any government organization.
What documents are required for the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana?
At the time of application, one must submit an Aadhaar card, Delhi Voter ID, a recent photograph, and an endorsement letter from an MP or MLA. Proof of residence in Delhi for 10 years is also required; documents such as a Delhi Voter ID, ration card, driving license, electricity bill, or gas connection bill/receipt can be used for this purpose. For proof of age, any one of the following documents may be submitted: birth certificate, school leaving certificate, Class 10 certificate, driving license, PAN card, Aadhaar card, or Voter ID.
