An important update regarding the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana has been released for the women of Delhi. Eligible women will be handed official pension letters at Delhi's Talkatora Stadium on August 26. According to Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, approximately 8 lakh women have registered on the portal and over 5 lakh applications have been submitted within just 18 days of the scheme's launch. The government is now focusing on expediting the verification of applications to ensure there is no delay in eligible women receiving the benefits.
What will happen on August 26?
On August 26, eligible women will be handed the official pension letter for the scheme at Talkatora Stadium. According to the Delhi government, eligible beneficiaries will start receiving financial assistance from September 1. However, there is an important point to understand here: the entire ₹2,500 amount will not be available for use as a standard bank balance every month.
According to the scheme's rules:
An amount of ₹1,500 will be deposited into an RD (Recurring Deposit) or FD (Fixed Deposit).
The remaining ₹1,000 will be credited to a CBDC wallet linked to the beneficiary's bank account.
The RD/FD portion will be subject to a lock-in period until July 31, 2029.
Beneficiaries may choose to deposit the entire ₹2,500 amount into an RD or FD if they wish.
