**Benefits for over 17 lakh women**
While launching the scheme, the Chief Minister stated that this initiative would make the women of Delhi financially strong and self-reliant. The Delhi government has allocated a budget of ₹5,110 crore for this scheme in the 2026-27 budget, which is expected to directly benefit over 17 lakh women in the state.

**Who is eligible for the scheme?**
According to the rules, women aged between 21 and 60 years belonging to families with an annual income of up to ₹2.5 lakh are eligible for the 'Delhi Laxmi Yojana'. The Delhi government has decided that eligibility is restricted to women (or their families) who have been residents of Delhi for at least 10 years. Within a family, only the eldest eligible woman qualifies, and the benefit is limited to one woman per family.

**Who will not receive the benefits of the 'Delhi Laxmi Yojana'?**
To ensure the benefits reach only the needy, the government has established certain strict criteria. Here is a look at who is excluded from the scheme; in simple terms, the following women will not receive the benefits:

Women who pay income tax or file GST returns.
Government employees or those whose family members work in government departments or Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). Women already receiving financial assistance under another government scheme.
Families that own a four-wheeler vehicle.
Families that consume more than 2,400 units of electricity annually.
Women with more than three children or those with a criminal record will not be eligible for this scheme.

How will the money be received? You have two easy options.
The government has provided two ways for you to receive the ₹2,500 assistance:

₹1,500 will be deposited monthly into a Recurring Deposit (RD) or Fixed Deposit (FD) account, while the remaining ₹1,000 will be provided in a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) wallet, which can be used only to purchase approved essential items.
Alternatively, you can choose to have the entire amount of ₹2,500 deposited directly into your bank account (RD or FD).

If you are applying to avail the benefits of the 'Delhi Lakshmi Yojana', keep the following documents ready:

Recommendation letter from the local MLA or MP

2. Proof of residence in Delhi for 10 years (any one of the following documents):

What are the benefits other than financial assistance? In addition to providing financial assistance of ₹2,500, the 'Delhi Lakshmi Yojana' aims to promote significant social reforms—such as education, healthcare, nutrition, sanitation, and women's empowerment.

It encourages enrolling daughters in school, obtaining 'APAAR' cards and 'ABHA' health IDs for them, and ensuring the timely completion of children's vaccinations.

It involves registering on the 'Poshan' tracker, participating in national initiatives like the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' (A Tree in Mother's Name) plantation drive, and actively contributing to the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' (Clean India Mission).
