Delhi Lakshmi Yojana First Installment: Great news has emerged for the women of Delhi. The first installment of the Delhi government's ambitious Delhi Lakshmi Yojana is set to be released on August 26. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will transfer the first installment of ₹2,500 into the beneficiaries' accounts during a grand event on Wednesday. This scheme was launched with the aim of making women in Delhi financially empowered, self-reliant, and independent.
Grand Event at Talkatora Stadium; 2,500 Women to Receive Installment
The Delhi government is organizing a grand event at Talkatora Stadium to release the first installment of this scheme. The event will commence at 11:00 AM on August 26. During this special ceremony, the first installment will be symbolically handed over to approximately 2,500 women. It is worth noting that the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana came into effect on August 1, and so far, over 6 lakh women have registered under the scheme.
Under the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana, eligible women are to receive financial assistance of ₹2,500 per month. This assistance will begin to be deposited into the beneficiaries' bank accounts starting September 1. However, the entire amount of ₹2,500 will not be transferred directly into the account. By default, ₹1,500 out of the ₹2,500 will be deposited into the beneficiary woman's Recurring Deposit (RD) or Fixed Deposit (FD) account. The remaining ₹1,000 will be transferred to the beneficiary's bank account linked to the Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) wallet. A lock-in period will apply to the amount deposited in the RD or FD until July 31, 2029.
If a beneficiary woman wishes, she can also opt to deposit the entire ₹2,500 amount into an FD or RD; the same lock-in period will apply in this case as well.
