Ban on counting of votes for DUSU elections.
The counting of votes for the elections held for the Delhi University Students Union was to be held tomorrow i.e. on 27 September 2024. But now this counting will not be done tomorrow because the Delhi High Court has put a stay on it. Delhi High Court has intervened in the DUSU election and has stopped it. The court said, 'Until all the candidates remove the posters, pamphlets, and hoardings put up on the walls, the results of the election will not be announced.' The court further said, that Delhi University will pay the expenses of MCD and DMRC which have been spent in removing the posts of the candidates and DU will compensate from the candidates. Let us tell you that the counting of votes will not happen now until the court allows it.
The court reprimanded DU officials
Apart from stopping the counting of votes, the court also reprimanded DU officials. While reprimanding the officials, the court said, 'DU failed to establish a system to deal with violations of rules. Why did the DU officials allow the standards to fall and why did they not take steps to stop it?' The court further said, if the university will not discipline its students then who will. You have all the powers. You can expel or disqualify the students but you could not handle 21 candidates. How will you handle lakhs of students.
