What is the name of the scheme?
The name of this scheme is the Delhi Pension Scheme for Women in Distress. It is also commonly known as the Widow Pension Scheme or Pension for Destitute Women. This scheme is entirely run by the Delhi government.
What is the objective of this scheme?
The main objective of this scheme is to help women who are living alone, who have very low income, and who do not want to depend on anyone else. The government wants such women not to be a burden on anyone for their needs and to receive a fixed amount every month.
Which women can receive Rs. 2500 every month?
There are some necessary conditions to avail of this scheme. The woman must be 18 years of age or older, she must be a widow, divorced, separated from her husband, abandoned, or completely destitute, she must have been a resident of Delhi for at least the past 5 years, her annual income must be less than ₹1 lakh (this includes income from rent, interest, agriculture, or any other source), and she must not be receiving any other government pension. Important information regarding Aadhaar and bank accounts:
The money for this scheme is directly transferred to the woman's bank account, therefore, it is mandatory for the woman to have an Aadhaar card. The bank account must be in the woman's name only (joint accounts are not accepted), the bank account must be in a bank located in Delhi, and the bank account must be linked to Aadhaar.
How to apply for this scheme?
1. The application for this scheme is entirely online. Visit the Delhi Government's e-District portal.
2. First, register yourself on the portal.
3. After logging in, open the Women in Distress Pension Scheme form.
4. Fill in all the required information in the form.
5. Upload the required documents.
6. After submitting the form, keep the receipt safe.
7. After the application is verified, if all the information is found to be correct, ₹2500 will be directly transferred to the woman's bank account every month.
