Whatsapp: Now a new concern has come up in America regarding WhatsApp. The US Parliament 'House of Representatives' has issued an order to remove WhatsApp from all government devices for security reasons. It has been told that this decision has been taken keeping in mind data privacy and cybersecurity. Information about this decision was given to all the employees of the Parliament through an official memo on Monday.

The Cybersecurity Office, which works under the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the House, has warned that WhatsApp does not exercise transparency regarding the security of user data and has many security flaws. Because of this, it has been considered a "high-risk app".

WhatsApp will have to be removed from mobile and desktop as well

The CAO has directed that WhatsApp should be completely removed not only from mobile, but also from desktop and web browsers. It was also said that the devices in which WhatsApp is found will be contacted and it will be removed. As an alternative, employees have been advised to use secure apps like Signal, Microsoft Teams, Wickr, Apple's iMessage and FaceTime. They have also been asked to be cautious of messages coming from unknown numbers and phishing attacks.

However, WhatsApp's parent company Meta has strongly opposed this decision. Meta spokesperson Andy Stone said that WhatsApp has end-to-end encryption by default, so that only the sender and receiver can read the message and not WhatsApp itself.

He also claimed that most of the apps in the CAO's list of approved apps do not have this security feature. Meta expressed hope that in future members of the US Parliament will be able to use WhatsApp again, as is happening in the Senate.

Iran has also ordered to remove it

It is worth noting that in January it was revealed that Israeli spyware company 'Paragon Solutions' had targeted several journalists and civil rights activists through WhatsApp. This has already raised questions about the security of the app.

Apart from this, recently Iran also advised its citizens to delete WhatsApp. It was alleged that sensitive information like location was being leaked through the app which could reach the Israeli army. However, Meta completely rejected these allegations.

In this way, now both America and Iran have taken steps at their own level considering WhatsApp suspicious from the security point of view, due to which once again the debate about the privacy of the app has intensified.
