Tripura Government DA Hike: At the conclusion of the last session of the 13th Legislative Assembly, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Shah announced a 3% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for all state employees and pensioners. This increase will be effective from October 1. This government decision will directly benefit over 100,000 employees and 84,000 pensioners.
What Did CM Manik Shah Say?
In March 2025, the Tripura government increased DA and DR by 3%. Prior to that, in January 2025, the central government announced a 2% DA increase for central employees, bringing the DA to 55%. Despite the 3% DA-DR increase announced on Tuesday, there remains a 19% difference in the DA between central and Tripura state employees.
At the end of the Otuman session, Chief Minister Saha said, "Our government is a people's government. After coming to power in 2018, we formed a panel to review salaries and pensions." "We implemented the Seventh Pay Commission from October 1, 2018." "The increase in DA and DR will put an additional burden of ₹25 crore on the state." The Chief Minister appealed to the people of the state to celebrate Durga Puja, Diwali, and other festivals peacefully and happily.
Employees' Expectations
Welcoming the Tripura government's decision, a group of employees and pensioners said they hoped the central government would also announce a DA increase around Diwali, which, as per tradition, would be effective from July.
The Tripura CM further stated that a total of 33% DA and DR has been disbursed to state government employees and pensioners in six installments so far. Now, an additional 3% dearness allowance is being announced for state employees and the same amount for pensioners.
