DA Hike: Big news for government employees—announcement regarding Dearness Allowance in this state expected on June 22!
DA Hike News: Ever since the central government announced a hike in Dearness Allowance (DA), states have been following suit. Now, the Chief Minister of West Bengal has also spoken about taking a significant decision regarding this matter.
DA Hike: The central government recently decided to increase the Dearness Allowance for its employees, prompting other state governments to take note. Several states have already announced the implementation of the DA hike for their own employees. Amidst this, there is good news for West Bengal government employees as well.
When might the announcement be made?
The West Bengal government is likely to take a crucial decision regarding Dearness Allowance and the payment of arrears in the upcoming budget. State leader Suvendu Adhikari has spoken about this. Representatives of West Bengal state employee unions stated that Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has assured them that the DA arrears will be paid. An announcement regarding this could be made on June 22.
What did the Chief Minister say?
West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has assured that the Supreme Court's directives regarding DA arrears will be followed. He also mentioned that DA arrears for the period between 2016 and 2019, as well as issues related to the previous pay commission, have already been resolved, resulting in payments to approximately three lakh employees and pensioners. This has raised hopes among the remaining employees.
Why is there a difference in DA between central and state employees?
It is worth noting that central government employees currently receive 60% Dearness Allowance, whereas West Bengal employees receive only 18%. This disparity has caused resentment among West Bengal employees. A long-standing struggle over this issue has been ongoing, and there is now hope that the government will find a solution for the employees.
