Cylinder Price Hike: Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Rise by ₹993—Have Domestic Gas Prices Increased as Well?
New gas cylinder prices have come into effect across the country, starting May 1st. Amidst tensions in the Middle East, the country's state-run companies have hiked the prices of gas cylinders. Effective May 1, 2026, the price of commercial LPG cylinders has been increased by a flat rate of approximately ₹993. Consequently, commercial LPG prices in various cities across the country—including Delhi and Mumbai—have now crossed the ₹3,000 mark. However, there has been no increase in the prices of domestic gas cylinders at this time.
The price of 19-kilogram commercial cylinders has been hiked by ₹993 starting today. As of today, a 19-kilogram cylinder in Delhi will cost ₹3,071.50. However, domestic cylinders remain available at their previous rates; no changes have been made to their pricing.
**New Rates in Delhi**
In the national capital, Delhi, a commercial LPG cylinder now costs ₹3,071.50—up from the previous price of ₹2,078.50. This represents a sharp increase of ₹993 in a single stroke. Meanwhile, domestic gas cylinders continue to be available at ₹913.
**Rates in Other Cities**
In the country's financial capital, Mumbai, the price of a commercial cylinder has now reached ₹3,024, whereas it was previously available for approximately ₹2,031. Similarly, in Kolkata, the price has risen to ₹3,202. The situation is no different in Chennai, a major city in South India, where a commercial cylinder is now priced at ₹3,237. Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh, cylinder prices have risen to ₹3,125.50 in Agra, ₹3,194 in Lucknow, and ₹3,255.50 in Gorakhpur. However, a point of relief is that there have been no major changes to domestic gas cylinder prices for the time being, and they remain at their previous levels.
**No Delivery Without an OTP**
Effective today, the rules regarding gas cylinder delivery have also changed. Starting May 1st, the regulations governing the delivery of gas cylinders have been made more stringent. Now, when receiving a cylinder, it will be mandatory for the consumer to provide the OTP received on their registered mobile number. The delivery will not be considered valid without the OTP. If your mobile number is not updated, the delivery boy can update it on the spot using an app.
