Cracking Down on Cheating and Impersonators: UP Introduces New Examination Model
The examination system in universities across Uttar Pradesh is set to go digital. This new system aims to curb the use of impersonators and make the education system significantly more transparent. Read on to learn about the specific changes being implemented.
A major step has been taken to reform the state's higher education system. A new digital examination system—modeled after the framework established by the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University—has been approved and will soon be implemented across the majority of universities in the state.
A significant transformation is underway to fully digitize the examination process within UP's universities. Under this new framework, all key examination-related operations—such as the distribution of question papers, the evaluation of answer sheets, and overall invigilation—will now be conducted using technology.
Consequently, the entire process will become far more secure and transparent than before. The most significant change introduced by this new system is that question papers will now be transmitted online directly to the examination centers, where they will be printed on-site.
This measure is expected to largely prevent issues such as question paper leaks or tampering during transit, thereby making the examination process more reliable and trustworthy.
Students' answer sheets will also undergo digital evaluation. Barcodes and QR codes will be affixed to the answer sheets, and "dummy numbers" will be utilized to ensure that the identity of any specific student remains concealed, thereby facilitating a completely impartial evaluation process.
To ensure strict invigilation at examination centers, CCTV cameras will be installed, and a biometric attendance system will be implemented. This measure will play a crucial role in completely eliminating the practice of using impersonators during examinations.
The government believes that this digital examination system will not only enhance transparency but also significantly reduce the overall expenditure associated with the examination process. By cutting down on costs related to paper printing, transportation, and traditional evaluation methods, savings amounting to crores of rupees are anticipated.
