Country's First LPG ATM Opens: Bring an Empty Cylinder, Take Back a Filled One in Minutes..
In recent times, difficulties regarding the supply of LPG cylinders have surfaced in several parts of the country. People are facing long wait times after booking a cylinder, while in many places, crowds can be seen queuing outside gas agencies. Amidst this situation, a piece of relieving news has emerged from Gurugram, Haryana. An LPG vending machine has been inaugurated at Central Park Flower Valley in Sector-33, Gurugram. This marks the country's first-ever LPG ATM. This new facility has the potential to make the entire process of procuring gas faster and more convenient.
According to a report by *The Times of India*, the LPG ATM is an automated machine where you can deposit your empty cylinder and collect a filled one within just a few minutes. Operating this machine is extremely simple. Customers are required to enter their mobile number and then complete a verification process using a One-Time Password (OTP). Subsequently, payment is made via UPI or a debit card by scanning a QR code. Once the payment is processed, the machine dispenses a fresh cylinder within minutes.
A 24-Hour Service
The most significant feature of this machine is that it operates 24/7. This means you no longer have to be bound by the specific operating hours of gas agencies. You can exchange your cylinder at any time, whenever the need arises. This innovation could largely eliminate the hassles associated with long queues and prolonged waiting periods. Instead of traditional steel cylinders, this LPG ATM dispenses new-age composite cylinders. These cylinders are lightweight and easy to handle. While a standard cylinder weighs approximately 30 kilograms, these new composite cylinders weigh around 15 kilograms. A unique feature of these cylinders is their transparency, which allows users to easily monitor the remaining gas levels inside.
Smart Stock Monitoring
The machine has the capacity to store approximately 10 cylinders at a time. As soon as the stock level drops to just two cylinders, the system automatically sends a notification to the gas agency. This mechanism helps mitigate the risk of the machine running out of gas, thereby ensuring a continuous supply.
India imports a significant portion of its LPG requirements from abroad. Recent global geopolitical tensions and disruptions in supply chains have adversely impacted the availability of gas. In such a scenario, a facility like the LPG ATM could offer relief to people, particularly at a time when priority is being accorded to domestic usage. Currently, this is a pilot project; however, if it proves successful, LPG ATMs could be installed in other cities across the country in the future. This has the potential to completely transform the process of obtaining gas and provide immense convenience to the public.
